Under the thatch

A new build, finished in 2026. All the furniture and the main appliances are new.

    Living room, kitchen and dining area share one space. An L-shaped sofa, a 65-inch smart TV and a gas heater.

    A table for ten

    Nine of you at most, so nobody fights over a seat. The stable door opens onto the patio: the top half, or all of it when the braai is going.

    The kitchen

    Gas hob and oven, air fryer, dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, Nespresso machine, kettle and toaster.

Exterior security cameras cover the front, back and side of the house and the pool area. The pool camera faces the pool and the boundary wall, not the outdoor shower. There are no cameras inside the house.

Struisbaai harbour is 7 minutes' drive. L'Agulhas, the lighthouse and the tip are a short drive along the coast.

The terms

  • Check-in from 15:00, checkout by 10:00.
  • The price includes cleaning, bed linen and towels.

Booking direct

  • Deposit: 50% of the total by EFT when you book. The dates are held once it lands.
  • Balance: the other 50% at the latest 14 days before check-in. Book 14 days or less before check-in and you pay the full amount when you book.
  • Breakage deposit: R3,000, paid with the balance, refunded within 7 days of checkout less documented damage.

Cancelling

The same as the Firm policy on our Airbnb listing.

  • Within 24 hours of booking, if check-in is at least 7 days away: full refund.
  • 30 days or more before check-in: full refund.
  • 7 to 30 days before check-in: 50% of the total refunded. In practice we keep the deposit and refund any balance paid.
  • Less than 7 days before check-in, a no-show, or after check-in: no refund.
  • Balance not paid 14 days before check-in: we may cancel the booking and keep the deposit.
  • No cancellation charge if the stay can't go ahead because a guest dies or is hospitalised (Consumer Protection Act, section 17(5)).
  • If we re-let cancelled nights at the same rate, we refund what we recover for those nights.
  • If we have to cancel, you get everything back.

Good to know

Langezandt is a gated estate with 24-hour security. Its rules come with the house, and the estate fines for them.

Is Reelax suitable for small children?
Children are welcome, and a camp cot, toys and books are at the house. The pool is not fenced and the loft is open, so small children need an adult with them.
Is the pool fenced?

Not for unsupervised toddlers. Read the loft note
Can I work remotely from Reelax?
Yes. 55/55 Mbps fibre and a desk for two in the study upstairs. More in Work from here
Is there backup power?
No, the house has no backup power. Read the power note
Is smoking allowed?
No smoking, vaping or e-cigarettes. No candles inside or under the thatch. Braai only in the built-in braai.
What are the estate rules?
No fireworks, drones, Weber or gas braais, open fires or quad bikes. No noise nuisance at any hour.
When are the quiet hours?
22:00 to 07:00.
Are pets allowed?
No pets, sorry. Service animals only.
Can we hold an event?
No events, and no commercial photography or filming.
What does the estate gate need?
We register every guest at the gate at least 48 hours before arrival. Send the full name of everyone staying and each car's registration when you book. Report at the security office the first time you enter.
Where do we park?
In the garage or on the property, never on the road. 30 km/h in the estate.
What do we do before we leave?
Pool cover on, gas heater off if you used it, and every door locked, including the stable door and Bedroom 1's doors to the pool. Rubbish bagged in the outdoor bin, which goes out before 14:00, never overnight.
